Agnes Bosanquet has joined the judging panel for the Design Magazine Awards 2026. As Dean of Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University, she brings an interdisciplinary background spanning media and cultural studies, education and the creative industries, along with a judging perspective grounded in industry-connected education and scholarship.
Her academic work centres on learning and teaching in higher education, with particular interest in academic development, professional identity and the changing place of creative disciplines within contemporary universities. She has published widely on academic practice, early career development, and curriculum and pedagogy, and contributes regularly to international conversations on the future of higher education.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), a Master of Higher Education, a Master of Creative Writing and a PhD in Cultural Studies, all from Macquarie University. She is a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE and received the 2025 CAULLT/HERDSA Award for Outstanding Leadership in Research and Development in Higher Education, having earlier been named HERDSA/Routledge Reviewer of the Year in 2023. She co-leads the international award-winning MOOC Contemporary Approaches to University Teaching, and has taught across face-to-face, blended and online settings for more than twenty-five years.
Outside the university, she writes as the Slow Academic, a blog exploring slower, more reflective approaches to research and practice. It’s a fitting extension of how she approaches judging: she values conceptual clarity, critical thinking, and creative work that engages seriously with complex social and cultural challenges.
The Design Magazine Awards 2026 are free to enter, blind-judged, and open worldwide. Early entry closes 31 July 2026.
